Popcorn Fundraiser

Each fall our pack has the opportunity to sell the Scouting Program through a popcorn fundraiser which helps raise money for our pack to offset costs. We will sell a variety of popcorn and nut products with a percentage that goes to our pack. Forms are sent home with the boys in August for individual sells which also includes incentives. As a group, we participate in a Show and Sell at a local business one weekend in the fall. Your scout's help with fundraising will contribute money for the program year

Scouting for Food

Each year, our pack works with our BSA troop and participates in the national Scouting for Food charity drive. Scouts reach out to the local community to collect non-perishable food items. The event takes place over two weekends in November, the first to hand out flyers to residences around the church, the second to collect the food items. The food is directly distributed to local food pantries for further delivery to those in need. This is an excellent way for Scouts to give back to the community in a very impactful way.

Mechanicsburg Halloween Parade

In October our scouts dress up and participate in the Mechanicsburg Annual Halloween Parade. It is a great opportunity for the children to dress up, give out some candy and get involved in the community for a fun night.

Camp Tuckahoe

In our pack the children have three opportunities to visit Camp Tuckahoe for overnight or day camps. In the fall we participate in Halloween at Tuckahoe, during the winter there is overnight camping and summer there is overnight camping and day camp available. Camp Tuckahoe is located outside Dillsburg and includes the coolest part about the camp... Cub Scout World!!! There is a castle, a fort, a tree house, hiking trails, swimming, and the Cubs have their own archery and BB range. It is a great opportunity for the children to try different things and earn achievements.

Pinewood Derby

The Pinewood Derby is one of the most popular activities in Cub Scouting. Pinewood derby cars are small wooden models that Cub Scouts make with help from their families. Then they race the cars in competition. The cars are powered by gravity and run down a track. Everyone can design and build their own “grand prix” car to enter in the race. During the December pack meeting the kits are distributed and the race is in January. Prizes are awarded in several categories for design and painting, and of course the big honors are won on the track. Typically, each den races several heats to determine a den winner. At the end of the day all of the den winners race for the pack championship.

Blue and Gold Banquet

Pack 195 celebrates every year with the Blue and Gold Banquet. It brings families together for a day of fun and cheer. The purpose of the blue and gold banquet is to celebrate the pack year, scouts achievements, thank pack leaders and other adults who have helped the pack, and inspire the leaders, Scouts, and parents. The Webelos II will partake in a bridging ceremony where they go on to become official Scouts. This is a great opportunity for the scouts and parents to reflect on their Cub Scout year(s) and share scouting memories.

Helping the Community

Doing service projects is one way that Cub Scouts keep their promise "to help other people.", and in doing so is an important part of rank advancement. A Scout should do his best to help other people every day. Service projects are a bigger way to help people and while you're giving service, you're learning to do something that's good for your community.
